Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading or using PokeZoneBuddy (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page.

2. About the App

PokeZoneBuddy is a free companion app for Pokémon GO players. It lets you track upcoming game events, convert event times across multiple timezones, plan multi-city raids, and save favorite gyms and meetup spots. The app requires no account and collects no personal data.

PokeZoneBuddy is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Niantic, Inc., The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures Inc., or GAMEFREAK.

3. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms and Apple's App Store terms.

This license does not allow you to:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of the App.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the App.
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.
• Attempt to circumvent or interfere with any technical measures of the App.

4. Permitted & Prohibited Use

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose as a companion tool. You must not:

• Automate or script any interaction with the App.
• Use the App in a way that violates any applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to scrape, harvest, or extract data from the App beyond its normal use.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App or any connected services.

5. Third-Party Event Data

PokeZoneBuddy displays Pokémon GO event data sourced from the community-maintained ScrapedDuck project, which aggregates publicly available information from LeekDuck.com. This data is provided under the MIT License.

We do not control, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of third-party event data. Pokémon GO event details are subject to change by Niantic at any time. Always verify critical event details through official Pokémon GO channels.

PokeZoneBuddy is not responsible for decisions made based on event data displayed in the App.

6. iCloud Sync

PokeZoneBuddy offers optional cross-device sync of your cities, spots, plans, and preferences via Apple iCloud (CloudKit). When iCloud sync is enabled:

• Your data is synced within your personal Apple ID — it is not shared with or accessible to us.
• iCloud sync is subject to Apple's iCloud Terms and Conditions and Apple's Privacy Policy.
• iCloud availability may vary; we are not responsible for sync failures, data loss, or unavailability of Apple services.

You can disable iCloud sync or delete iCloud data at any time via your device's iCloud settings.

7. Notifications & Calendar Integration

Notifications: If you grant notification permission, the App schedules local reminders on your device. Notification permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in Settings.

Calendar (macOS only): If you grant calendar write access, the App can create calendar events for Pokémon GO event windows. This permission is optional, write-only, and can be revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

8. User-Created Content

The App allows you to save cities, coordinates, notes, and plans. All of this content is stored locally on your device (and optionally synced via your private iCloud account). You are solely responsible for the accuracy of any coordinates or notes you enter. We do not moderate, review, or have access to your locally created content.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
• Event data will be accurate, complete, or up to date.
• The App will meet your specific requirements or expectations.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we (Rosa Labs / Danny Hollek) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (which is zero, as the App is free).

11. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with or links to the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:

• Apple iCloud / CloudKit — optional cross-device sync
• Apple UNUserNotificationCenter — local notifications
• Apple EventKit — calendar export (macOS only)
• ScrapedDuck (GitHub) — read-only public event data

We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party service.

12. Availability & Changes

We may update, modify, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.

Updates may be required to continue using certain features of the App. We reserve the right to require updates as a condition of continued use.

13. Intellectual Property

All original code, design, and content of PokeZoneBuddy are the intellectual property of Rosa Labs / Danny Hollek.

Pokémon, Pokémon GO, and all related names, characters, logos, and trademarks are owned by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAMEFREAK, The Pokémon Company, and/or Niantic, Inc. PokeZoneBuddy claims no ownership of any Pokémon-related intellectual property.

Event data is provided by the ScrapedDuck community project under the MIT License.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict of law principles.
